Rebecca Reale is a NJ certified school psychologist and research assistant at the Infancy Studies Laboratory, Center for Molecular and Behavioral Neuroscience, Rutgers University, Newark, NJ. She earned a B.A. in psychology with highest honors from Oberlin College in 1994, and received her Psy.M. degree in school psychology from the Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology, Rutgers University in 1998. In graduate school, she specialized in infant and early childhood development through the Infant Specialized Interdisciplinary Studies (ISIS) program. She has worked as a school psychologist, a preschool enrichment program teacher, a college learning consultant, and a researcher in two developmental labs.

Rebecca joined the Infancy Studies Laboratory in 1996 as a part-time psychological examiner, and eventually expanded her role to include research assistant responsibilities. She currently works in the lab just one day a week, as she spends the rest of her time as a stay-at-home mother to her three young children.

Rebecca’s professional interests include early childhood education and homeschooling. Past research areas include the social language of children and an exploratory study of school psychologists’ knowledge and opinions of homeschooling. She has also studied daycare environments and has consulted with daycare providers to help enhance their learning settings.

Homeschooling also tops Rebecca’s personal interests, as she homeschools her two young children and co-coordinates Skylands Homeschoolers, a local homeschooling support community and playgroup. In her (very little) free time, Rebecca enjoys swimming, water aerobics, and scrapbooking.
